3dprintmine Kit: Bringing Childhood Dreams to Life Through 3D-Printed RC Cars

My name is Denis, and I’d like to share the journey behind 3dprintmine Kit, a project born from a childhood dream and nurtured by a lifelong passion for creativity and engineering.

Ever since I was a kid, I found myself wishing that my LEGO cars could do more than just sit still—they should race, turn, and come alive in my hands. LEGO Technic offered some possibilities, but they never quite captured the spirit of a real RC car—agile, swift, and full of life. Life has a funny way of bringing old dreams back to you. After completing technical school, I found myself diving back into the world of fun and creativity that I cherished as a child. A key turning point was getting my first 3D printer. Suddenly, the world of ideas that once felt out of reach was now at my fingertips, waiting to be molded into reality. Suddenly, the dream of a truly dynamic LEGO-compatible RC car didn’t seem so far-fetched.

The Birth of 3dprintmine Kit

I began to imagine an RC car that wasn’t just a toy but a canvas for creativity. A car that could be easily taken to a friend’s house, modified, and built upon without limitations. Since I am not affiliated with LEGO and couldn’t use their products directly, I decided to build something entirely my own - a standardized base that fits the LEGO Speed Champions cars. By creating this platform, I aimed to offer something that anyone could print at home, customize, and repair without fuss.

What excites me most is that 3dprintmine Kit isn’t just about creating a car - it’s about giving others the freedom to dream and build. If a part breaks because your kid drives it into a wall? No problem - just print a new piece. Want to tweak the motor or experiment with different steering options? Go for it! It’s all about empowerment and creativity.

A World of Possibilities

The 3dprintmine Kit chassis is designed to be compatible with several popular LEGO Speed Champions models:
LEGO Speed Champions Instructions

  • 76901 Toyota Supra
  • 76902 McLaren Elva
  • 76900 Koenigsegg Jesko
  • 76909 AMG One

And with a little tweaking, it might even work for:

  • 76915 Pagani Utopia
  • 76934 Ferrari F40
  • 76918 McLaren F1
  • 76922 BMW M4

Each build represents a step closer to that childhood dream of watching my favorite cars come to life. I want others to experience that same joy - to see their creations zoom across the floor, powered by their own hands and imagination.

Sharing the Journey

To share this journey, I’ve put together a YouTube video showing how to build the 76917 Nissan Skyline on the 3dprintmine Kit chassis. It’s a glimpse into my process, a way for others to see how accessible and fun this can be. I hope it inspires viewers to pick up their tools and start building. The model is available for purchase on our 3DPrintMine Website after the Kickstarter.

If you don’t have a 3D printer or need help bringing your 3dprintmine Kit to life, don’t worry - we’ve got you covered. On our website, we’ve built a community where you can find trusted printing partners who can help create the parts for you. Whether you’re new to 3D printing or just looking for convenience, the community is here to help make your project a reality.

The Adventure Continues

There’s so much more to come. I’m excited to dive deeper into this project, explore new designs, and see how others make it their own. If you’re interested in this adventure, stay tuned for future posts about the process of designing and printing. Together, let’s bring our dreams to life, one 3D print at a time.
